Our Review
Sparkling specialist Henskens Rankin of Tasmania was founded in 2010 while working for a local contract winemaker (now Tasmanian Vintners) with the aim of exploring distinctive Tasmanian styles of sparkling wine. That working relationship has continued for the Vintage Brut (limited releases of 2500 bottles), which spends a minimum of 6 years on yeast lees. Frieda makes the other wines elsewhere in tiny batches, typically fermented with wild yeast in barrels, they may also undergo wild tirage and wild malolactic fermentation in bottle and or tirage with residual grape sugar. These wines also find their way into the Vintage Brut blend. -JAMES HALLIDAY
