Welland

South Australia | Barossa Valley

Our Review

Surrounded by the sprawling northern expanse of the township of Nuriootpa and destined to be sold for development, the 1923-planted Welland shiraz vineyard was rescued in 2017 by a group of friends led by Ben and Madeleine Chapman. The neglected vineyard of 30 rows was resurrected in 2019 with new trellising, irrigation and replanting of dead vines. Fruit from the site is supplemented by shiraz and cabernet sauvignon from other vineyards around the Barossa and Eden valleys. -TYSON STELZER
