Seabrook Wines

South Australia | Barossa Valley

Our Review

Hamish Seabrook is the youngest generation of a proud Melbourne wine family once involved in wholesale and retail distribution, and as leading show judges of their respective generations. Hamish too, is a wine show judge but was the first to venture into winemaking, working with Best’s and Brown Brothers in Victoria before moving to SA with wife Joanne. In 2008 Hamish set up his own winery on the family property in Vine Vale, having previously made the wines at Dorrien Estate and elsewhere. Here they have shiraz (4.4ha), cabernet sauvignon (3.9ha) and mataro (1.8ha), and also continue to source small amounts of shiraz from the Barossa, Langhorne Creek and Pyrenees. About

Five generations, 140 years of history, and a young winemaker. Established in 1878, W.J. Seabrook & Sons was a pioneer of the Australian Wine industry.

One of Australia’s earliest wine merchants, the Seabrook family have held a heavy involvement in the wine industry for 140 years, across five generations. It is no surprise that fifth generation, Hamish Seabrook found himself continuing this trend by becoming the first winemaker in the Seabrook family, building his knowledge and experience with several prominent wine brands.

In 2004, Hamish decided it was time for him to rejuvenate his family brand, launching Seabrook Wines with one wine; a single vineyard Shiraz from Victoria. Since that first vintage, Seabrook Wine’s portfolio has expanded to include a range of regions and varietals but the philosophy has stayed the same – to source top quality fruit from the best regions of Australia as W.J. Seabrook set out to do, many decades ago.
