Our Review
The economical name is appropriate for a business that started with 1t of grapes making 2 hogsheads of wine in 2001. Shiraz was purchased from Jason Schwarz’s parents’ vineyard in Bethany, the vines planted in 1968; the following year half a tonne of grenache was added, once again purchased from the parents. In ’05, grape sale agreements with another (larger) winery were terminated, freeing up 1.8ha of shiraz and 0.8ha of grenache. From this point on things moved more quickly: in ’06 Jason formed a partnership (Biscay Road Vintners) with Peter Schell of Spinifex, giving them total control over production. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Food
Information
Delikatessen offers relaxed all-day eats and drinks in the heart of Barossa. Artisan wines by the glass and bottle aside, this is also the home of our other passion – great coffee! Take a seat in the Providore, on the terrace or on the lawn and enjoy some of the best vineyard views Barossa has to offer. If you’re on the run, take away is also an option. The Providore is stocked with Artisan wine and an abundance of great produce sourced from Barossa. A place to browse and shop for great local artisan wine and food. Reservations are available and take priority. Whilst walk-ins are welcome, planning ahead with a reservation, especially on the weekend, will avoid disappointment. *Please note outdoor table availability is weather dependent. Essen presents a contemporary, innovative interpretation of seasonal Barossa food with a two, or three, course summer menu. Open on Wednesday to Sunday for a 12pm - 3pm lunch service. Essen is a wonderful word meaning 'to eat. At Artisans, we have adopted 'essen' as a way of describing how we like to approach the enjoyment of food. With wine. A way of sharing everything that is good and beautiful in our special part of the world, be it in a glass or on a plate, with our friends and our guests. Reservations are essential to avoid disappointment. *Our menu is subject to change with the seasonality of produce
