Our Review

Keith and Alison Hentschke purchased Hentley Farm in 1997, as a mixed farming property with an old vineyard. Keith studied agricultural science at Roseworthy, later adding an MBA. During the '90s he had a senior production role with Orlando, before moving on to manage Fabal, one of Australia’s largest vineyard management companies. Establishing a great vineyard like Hentley Farm required all of his knowledge. A total of 38.2ha were planted between ’99 and '05. In ’04 an adjoining 6.5ha vineyard, christened Clos Otto, was acquired. Shiraz dominates the plantings, with 32.5ha. Situated on the banks of Greenock Creek, the vineyard has red clay loam soils overlaying shattered limestone, lightly rocked slopes and little topsoil. Hentley Farm is a single estate boutique winery nestled amongst rolling hills in the west of the Barossa Valley, producing exceptional wines and memorable experiences.

Specialities

Shiraz (70%), Grenache (17%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), Zinfandel (2%), and a small parcel of Viognier (0.5%).

The Hentley Farm Restaurant has a strong focus on utilising produce from our unique microclimate on the banks of Greenock Creek, from wildly growing on the property and in the waterways, to our onsite garden beds and the utilisation of our property grown and produced wines. From there we look to showcase the highest quality produce that the Barossa and surrounding regions have to offer.
