Places to eat in Orange

By Halliday Promotion

Heading to Orange for the wine? Stay for the food.

We know the food you experience on a regional trip is equally as important as the wine you drink, so we've rounded up two must-visits when in Orange.

For fine dining, snacks by the pool, and seasonal menus, head to The Oriana Orange (which doubles as a hotel and resort). For a little slice of Italy, just 45 minutes out of Orange, Antica Australis is inspired by the village of Carcoar (and is BYO so you can enjoy your latest wine discoveries at dinner).

The Peacock Room, The Summer Kitchen, and Bela Vista Bar & Cocktail Salons

The Oriana offers a variety of dining options from a casual summer garden restaurant to sophisticated European dining with a modern twist, and the supper menu at the Bela Vista Bar.

The Pool Bar and Bela Vista Bar offer afternoon cocktails and drinks, while The Summer Kitchen hosts guests for wood fired pizzas and European tapas dishes in the lush gardens.

Inspired by the seasons, guests can experience local produce, wineries and fruit orchards in summer, and enjoy mulled wine in the snow, a winter barbecue for dinner and dessert under the stars.

Bookings are recommended.

Antica Australis

Antica Australis

Antica Australis (Latin for ‘the ancient South’) is a slow food regional Italian locanda in the historic village of Carcoar – which is just a 45 minute drive from Orange.

Using seasonal local produce, Antica serves traditional and ancient dishes from the hidden region of Ciociaria in central Italy.

Set in a refurbished haberdashery store originally built in 1927, Antica serves a four course set menu, across four session times, on weekends.

The menu changes every four to six weeks depending on seasonality of produce. The venue offers an intimate setting of 25 guests, and is deliberately BYO so guests can enjoy wines they've discovered along the way.

Bookings can be made via the website; usually best to book at least 1–2 weeks in advance.
