Frazer Woods Wines

Western Australia | Margaret River

Our Review

John Frazer has set up a contract sparkling wine business, called the Champagne Shed, although the winemaking is done offsite. He makes the Frazer Woods wines from 2ha of estate-grown shiraz; the white grapes for the pinot chardonnay sparkling are purchased from others. -JAMES HALLIDAY

The fruit for La Cache wines comes from a mix of their own vineyard planted back in 1996, and fruit from a long-standing agreement a small group of growers exclusively in the Margaret River region. The estate vineyard is situated in the highly sort after Wilyabrup sub region of Margaret River. The grapes are grown with no irrigation, and are hand-picked and sorted. Naturally occurring ferments and unhurried time in barrel or tank, all showcase the care and attention to detail that makes Frazer Woods a special piece of Margaret River’s wine industry. Stored in John’s hand crafted straw bale shed, he keeps a close eye on the wines from bottling through to disgorgment to ensure the wine is released at the ideal time.
