Pollocksford Vineyards

Drew Hewson and Craig Scott purchased the Pollocksford property in 1991 and planted a little under 2ha of pinot noir, shiraz, chenin blanc and cabernet franc between '92 and '94. It is on the typical regional chocolate clay-loam from weathered basalt over powdery limestone, with a northerly aspect to the Barwon River, and was the site of a distinguished winery 150 years ago until phylloxera led to the compulsory removal of all vines from the Geelong district. -JAMES HALLIDAY
