Gapsted Wines

Victoria | Alpine Valleys

Our Review

Gapsted is the major brand of the Victorian Alps Winery, which started life (and continues) as a large-scale contract winemaking facility. The quality of the wines made for its own brand has led to the expansion of production not only under that label, but also under a raft of subsidiary labels. As well as the substantial estate plantings, Gapsted sources traditional and alternative grape varieties from the King and Alpine valleys. Exports to Canada, Germany, Norway, Sweden, UAE, India, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Hong Kong and Japan. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Gapsted Wines is renowned for its friendly customer service, delicious meals produced from fresh local produce and award-winning wines, all set against the backdrop of their vineyards overlooking the striking Alpine Valleys.

The winery was established by seven wine industry families who came together to build a winery based on the single idea of excellence. It’s this idea that drives Gapsted Wines to be uncompromising in all that they do. The goal remains the same today as it was back then - to produce affordable wines of the highest quality from this unique wine region.

Gapsted’s winemaking team places great emphasis on the importance of constant improvement, refining traditional wines styles while experimenting with new varieties, specifically from the King and Alpine Valleys, which are widely recognised as prominent areas for alternative grape varieties, and feature heavily in Gapsted’s Limited Release range. Similarly, Gapsted’s High Country range, released in conjunction with its “20 years in the High Country” celebrations in 2017, features varieties that express the richness, elegance and complexity found in grapes from the region, including Prosecco, Pinot Gris and Tempranillo.

The winery hosts a range of event throughout the year including the ever-popular long lunches. A quick look at the What’s On page at will reveal a wide range of events designed to enhance your visit.

Gapsted is just minutes by car from Myrtleford, and it’s also on the Murray to Mountains Cycle Trail – while its large, open grassed areas makes it perfect for those travelling with children and pets.
