Fireblock

South Australia | Clare Valley

Our Review

Fireblock (formerly Old Station Vineyard) is owned by Bill and Noel Ireland, who purchased the then almost-70-year-old Watervale vineyard in '96. The vines (3ha of shiraz and 2ha of grenache), are dry-grown; the riesling (1ha) was replanted to the Geisenheim clone in '08 when town water became available. The wines are skilfully contract-made, winning trophies and gold medals at capital city wine shows. Exports to Sweden and Malaysia. -JAMES HALLIDAY
