Small Gully Wines

South Australia | Barossa Valley

Our Review

Small Gully was founded by grapegrowers Robert Bader and Darren Zimmerman, and winemaker Stephen Black. In 2002 a winery was built at Darren's Marananga property, situated in a 'small gully' on Roennfeldt Road. The venture has access to 56ha of shiraz (and a few rows of malbec) in the Barossa Valley, and 10ha of shiraz in the Adelaide Plains. Small parcels of grenache, mourvedre and cabernet sauvignon are also acquired from local vineyards. Stephen moved from the pharmaceutical industry to the wine industry in 1992, embarking on a postgraduate winemaking course at Roseworthy College in '93, and working for Barossa Valley Wine Estates until '99, when he began the created of the Small Gully brand. Exports to the US, Canada, Singapore and China. -JAMES HALLIDAY
