Lou Miranda’s daughters Lisa, Angela and Victoria are the driving force behind the estate, albeit with continuing hands-on involvement from Lou. The jewels in the crown of the estate plantings are 0.5ha of mourvèdre planted in 1897 and 1.5ha of shiraz (and a tiny 0.14ha grenache) planted in 1907. The remaining vines have been planted gradually since ’95, the varietal choice widened by cabernet sauvignon, merlot, chardonnay and pinot grigio. Exports to all major markets. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Great food and wine are best shared, this is the central philosophy at Lou Miranda Estate. Named for their father Lou Miranda, the three sisters, Lisa, Angela and Victoria run the families Barossa boutique winery, cellar door and restaurant with charming devotion to good old-fashioned Italian hospitality. All the wines are produced from the families Estate owned vineyards, the 100 acres are on four sites located at a maximum of 8 kilometres from the winery. Privileged to be custodians of four centenarian old vine blocks in Southern Barossa Valley, the oldest dating back to 1897. Their dedication to vineyard management is carried through from barrel to bottle.
