Gomersal Wines

South Australia | Barossa Valley

Our Review

The 1887 establishment date has a degree of poetic licence. In 1887 Friedrich W Fromm planted the Wonganella Vineyards, following that with a winery on the edge of the Gomersal Creek in ’91; it remained in operation for 90 years, finally closing in 1983. In 2000 a group of friends ‘with strong credentials in both the making and consumption ends of the wine industry’ bought the winery and re-established the vineyard, planting 17ha of shiraz, 2.2ha of mourvèdre and 1ha of grenache. Exports to Switzerland, Iceland, Korea, Singapore and NZ. -JAMES HALLIDAY
