The Halliday Tasting Team have given these wines a 'drink by' date of 2025 – check to see if you're lucky enough to have any of these back-vintages in your cellar.

The new year brings the perfect opportunity to take stock of the wines in your cellar. Below you'll find more than 200 wines that have a 'drink by' date of 2025, and while the date isn't a hard-and-fast-rule, it is a great excuse to open some of those bottles you've been saving.

Split up into riesling, sauvignon blanc, semillon, chardonnay, pinot noir, grenache, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz, these wines come from some of Australia's most celebrated wineries and include some of the country's most iconic wines.

If you're taking stock of your riesling, check for Crawford River's 1997 Riesling, along with it's 2000 Reserve Riesling, or if you're a fan of expressions from WA, you might be sitting on Forest Hill's 2005 Block 1 Riesling. Margaret River sauvignon blanc drinkers, check your cellars for the Domaine Naturaliste 2020 Sauvage Sauvignon Blanc, Flowstone's 2017 Queen of the Earth Sauvignon Blanc, Higher Plane's 2019 Fumé Blanc, Moss Wood's 2019 Elsa and Stella Bella's 2019 Sauvignon Blanc.

There are 14 expressions of Hunter Valley semillon, along with a slew of chardonnay. For those lucky enough to be holding onto Giaconda's 2015 Nantua Les Deux Chardonnay, Giant Steps' 2015 Sexton Vineyard Chardonnay or Hoddles Creek Estate's 2014 1er Chardonnay – your time is now.

Bass Phillip's 2008 Premium Pinot Noir, Bay of Fires' 2014 and Mayer's 2014 are among the pinots with a drink by date of 2025. From the 2005 vintage is Mount Langi Ghiran's Langi Cabernet Sauvignon and Oakridge's 864 Cabernet Sauvignon.

And finally, shiraz. Have a rummage around for Brokenwood's 1998 Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz, the 2008 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier, the 2007 Elderton Command Shiraz, Henschke's Hill of Grace from the 1998 and 2005 vintages, Wendouree's 2005 Shiraz, and, of course, the 2000 Penfolds Grange Bin 95.

Don't forget the Halliday Virtual Cellar allows you to track drinking windows; sort wine according to the the 'drink by' date and make sure you don't miss peak drinking windows.
