Oakridge Wines in the Yarra Valley – winner of the 2024 Best Value Winery – has released new vintages of its 864 Single Block wines.
The trio includes the 2021 864 Funder & Diamond Chardonnay, the 2022 864 Henk Aqueduct Pinot Noir, and the 2021 864 Winery Block Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 864 collection is only released from the best Oakridge vintages, and the wines embody the hand-picked, microselections from the Yarra Valley sites.
“The 864 wines have always been about finding the best bits from the best vineyards, finding its essence and capturing a moment in time,” says chief winemaker David Bicknell. “Our 864 Funder & Diamond Chardonnay 2021 is perhaps one of the best chardonnays we’ve ever made.”
The collection's name '864' comes from Oakridge's address in Coldstream – the winery and cellar door are located at 864 Maroondah Highway in Coldstream, Victoria.
2021 864 Funder & Diamond Chardonnay
This pristine, expressive and exceptional chardonnay profoundly reflects the Yarra Valley landscape. Lifted aromas of white nectarines, nashi, pink grapefruit, white flowers and crushed stone. Simultaneously concentrated and elegant, the pure, mineral-inflected palate is deliciously long. RRP $96.Suggested food pairing: Rainbow trout.
2022 864 Henk Aqueduct Pinot Noir
From the highly prized Henk vineyard, this outstanding pinot noir rises to the occasion vintage after vintage with its perfect amalgam of aromas and flavours. An outstanding pinot, refined and long, with a super-seductive texture. RRP $96.Suggested food pairing: Dry-aged duck.
2021 864 Winery Block Cabernet Sauvignon
A dense, powerful and structured wine, with a core of perfectly ripened black fruits, crushed violets, dark chocolate and graphite. Powerful and refreshing, this elegant medium-bodied wine consistently exemplifies what the Yarra Valley does so well. RRP $96.Suggested food pairing: Spring lamb with all the trimmings.
